Skillman Horse Campground
Skillman Horse Campground Overview
Skillman Campground caters to campers with horses, but is available to groups and individuals without horses as well. It is located in the Tahoe National Forest near Nevada City and three historic mining towns. The campground is situated in a forest of cedar and Douglas fir trees, at an elevation of 3,700 feet.
Skillman Campground specializes in equestrian camping. Horse corrals, water troughs and hitching racks are found in the campground. Site 4 has two corrals and sites 7, 9, 13 and 15 have one corral each.
Each single site can accommodate up to six people, four horses and two vehicles. A group area is made up of five smaller sites that can accommodate 36 people altogether, as well as 24 horses and 12 vehicles. Large trucks and trailers will require the space of multiple cars.
