Pumice Flat Campground

Pumice Flat Campground Overview

Pumice Flat Campground is located in the Red’s Meadows and Devils Postpile area of the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, just west of the town of Mammoth Lakes. The campground is adjacent to the middle fork of the San Joaquin River. The area boasts some very interesting geologic features, including numerous lakes and rugged mountains, which lend themselves well to photography. ??Many species of wildlife call the mountains home, such as black bear, mountain lions, mule deer, pine marten, pika, fish and birds.

Pumice Flat Campground has 17 single-family (mixed-used) campsites adjacent to the middle fork of the San Joaquin River at an elevation of 7,700 feet and is set among a lodgepole pine forest surrounded by spectacular mountain peaks. The campground is also adjacent to two creeks. The campsites are spread out among pine trees with some sites having more shade than others. Group campsites are available by reservation.
